What items belong on board the space shuttle to help your crew establish a civilization on Mars?

Focused freewriting is a technique intended to encourage ideas on a topic without concerns for the conventional rules of writing. The goal is to make writing easier and more comfortable while you draft new thoughts onto a page. Remember, freewriting doesn’t mean to rush or create sloppy work on purpose, instead, it provides the freedom to express your creativity.

Try it! Use these points as your guide:

  1. Write nonstop for a set period of time (3–10 minutes). Allow your ideas to flow onto the paper.
  2. Ignore the urge to correct as you write, you can always come back and edit later.
  3. Write what you picture in your mind by using words that describe.
  4. Do not judge or censor what you are writing. Allow yourself to imagine.

  1. Since NASA hopes to send humans to Mars in 2035, that means that someone who’s a kid know could be on the mission. According to National Geographic, “NASA is developing a new spacecraft called Orion. Orion will be the fastest man-made object ever to blast through Earth’s atmosphere, reaching 25,000 miles an hour.” Today, astronauts eat freeze dried food that doesn’t taste good. So, they want to create a garden in space that will feed the astronauts. Scientists also want to place a 3D printer in space so they could use it to print out whatever they need.
